Dew points Tumble
Written on: 05th Apr 2021
A duel cold front has swept southwards across the UK today bringing in bitterly cold arctic air. Heavy snow showers have been pushing into Scotland bringing accumulations across the hills.

Perhaps most remarkably though is the depth of cold for this time of year. Dew points are sub zero across the entire country with many areas seeing dew points reaching minus double digits.
With dew points being so low, this signifies some very dry air across the UK and as a result humidity levels are plunging incredibly low, this can cause a build up of static electricity causing small electric shocks.

Temperatures will remain below average through the rest of this week however the cold air will relax slightly by Wednesday. During Tuesday wintry showers will become more widespread across the country but accumulations are likely to be limited to higher ground & will thaw quickly in the stronger April sun.
